Prospective Members
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has a rich history of uniting women to positively impact the lives of others. Our organization emphasizes lifelong active membership. We have an expectation our members will stay engaged at all levels of the Sorority. Our continual mission, “Service to all Mankind.”

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will extend the privilege of membership to women who promote, uphold, and extend its policies and programs. In return, the Sorority is a conduit through which individuals will grow, develop, both personally and professionally.

Requirements
-
Completion of a baccalaureate degree, with at least a C+ cumulative average, or a graduate or professional degree (Ph.D., M.D., J.D., etc.) from an accredited College or University.

C+ is equivalent to a 2.50 on a 4.0 scale if the school does not have a plus or minus on the grading scale.

Motivation and talents to help promote, implement and extend policies and programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.

Attendance at an Information Session with the required documents listed in the Letter of Invitation.

Process
Graduate membership is by invitation only and is not solicited through our Graduate Chapters. Graduate Chapters host public events, such as forums, cultural presentations and social activities, so that prospective candidates can become acquainted with Chapter members and learn about service activities they offer to local communities. Do not actively seek membership into the Sorority.
Utilize the Chapter Locator to locate Graduate Chapters and contacts in or near your community.
The Graduate Membership Experience (ME) begins with a Letter of Invitation signed by the Graduate Chapter President AND Membership Chairman on Chapter stationery. There are no membership activities prior to receipt of an official invitation letter, and the Sorority prohibits partaking in ME activities prior to receiving an official letter. If you participate in any activities prior to the issuance of an acceptance letter, your application for membership will be denied.

Pledging, before, during, or after initiation, is not a part of the Membership process, and anyone who knowingly and willingly participates in pledging activities will be denied membership in/to the Sorority. Additionally, suspension and/or expulsion may result if it is discovered an individual participated in pledging activities after initiation as a member.

Nu Gamma Omega Chapter hosts public events, forums, fundraisers, cultural presentations and social, service activities, events throughout the year. Attend any one of the community service opportunities to become better acquainted with Sorority activities, mission and to support community service efforts. Visiting Members

We are a legacy of sisterhood, service and welcome you with open arms. If you are a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® and have an interest in visiting any one of our Chapter meetings, service opportunities, please contact akangopresident@gmail.com.
Requirements To Attend A Chapter Meeting

Nu Gamma Omega Chapter meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 PM.
Proof of membership is required and must be verified prior to entering the meeting.
If you are a visiting member, please present your most recent financial card, Ivy Leaf Magazine with name and address label attached, certificate of membership along with a photo identification to the Sergeant-at-Arms upon arrival.

Visiting members are encouraged to arrive 10-20 minutes early to verify credentials prior to admission to the meeting.

Business attire is required for all Chapter meetings, unless otherwise noted.
​

All Nu Gamma Omega Chapter meetings are virtual until further notice. Please fill out the form below if you are interested in reactivating, transferring, or attending a virtual chapter meeting.

Reclaiming and retaining our membership is the heart of our sorority. For inactive, members relocating, and desiring to re-activate, transfer membership, we welcome you!
