As the 14th President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Nu Gamma Omega Chapter, I am honored to welcome you to our chapter’s official website and virtual home. Since our chartering in 1980, Nu Gamma Omega Chapter has created “A Legacy of Sisterhood and Service” in our community. We provide engaging, empowering, enduring programs, events to meet the diverse needs of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana metropolitan community.

Nu Gamma Omega Chapter joins over 1000 chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in executing the vision of our 30th International President, Dr. Glenda Glover; the 2018-2022 program platform, “Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service”.


We are guided by principles of Sisterhood, Respect, Leadership, Education and Economics in five (5) program Target areas:

  1. HBCU for Life and our Signature Program, #CAP (College Admissions Process)

  2. Women’s Healthcare and Wellness

  3. Building Your Economic Legacy

  4. The Arts!

  5. Global Impact

In addition, Nu Gamma Omega Chapter supports chapter-specific programs, initiatives, such as domestic violence awareness, support of local food banks and shelters, an annual Debutante Cotillion Scholarship program, mentoring, and essay programs for middle school students. For more than forty (40) years, Nu Gamma Omega Chapter has continued its rich history of community service and sisterhood.

Over the last twenty (20) years, our chapter has awarded more than $200,000 in college scholarships to young women who reside in our service area. In addition to financial support of local college students, we continually implement local service programs such as the adoption of local shelters; a local domestic violence safe house and homeless shelter; to name a few.

As a chapter of resilient, resourceful and resolute women, each member is mentored to lead and empowered to serve. Our members are encouraged to develop and give time, talent, gift, skill to support innovative, impactful chapter programming and activities. Our Chapter members range in age from 22-80 and represent the fields of education, healthcare, public safety, social services, law, administration, accounting, other professional careers; business owners in the Baton Rouge Metropolitan area.
